Helu enjoys official to Nebraska

There are running backs that are currently at Nebraska that currently rotate based on different plays being called. Roy Helu might be able to stay on the field for all the plays despite the play call to run, pass or block. He feels like he could do it all at Nebraska.

Roy Helu was a late addition to the weekend for Nebraska. The running back from Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley was a late addition to the official visitor list this past weekend at Nebraska. It was important to Helu for his family to make the trip with him.

"It was really good," Helu said. "It went well. I was looking to see the atmosphere and the community around it. It was amazing. They really support their program."

Having never been to Nebraska before, there were some things that Helu was looking forward to seeing about the area and the town. "Lincoln, the city itself, is really quiet. It's not like L.A. or San Francisco, but they really come out on Saturdays. It's amazing."

A huge attraction for Nebraska and official visitors now has to be the new facilities and upgrades. Helu never knew what Nebraska looked like before, but knew that Nebraska had great facilities even before the upgrade.

"These were the first facilities that I got to see anywhere. Coming from high school though, the difference is amazing. I heard that I had Nebraska had nice facilities before, but their new facilities are really nice."

During the game Helu saw what the coaches meant when it came to "pound the rock". He also saw the rotation that was being used at the running back spot between four running backs.

"I think that I would be an all-around back at Nebraska, even on passing plays. I think that their offense suits my abilities. If they had a rotation then there would be fresh legs."

"They have their all-around back in Marlon Lucky who can run and catch. They have some guys that can do some things like that too in Kenny Wilson and Brandon Jackson. They also have a more of a third down back in Cody Glenn."

"I think that the system could change with time. Right now all of the running backs that they have are all very talented. They have to rotate them there now."

One unique thing about Helu was that he really didn't have a host from the team. By request, Helu asked that he and his family be given their time away from the game and other scheduled activities to experience Lincoln.

"I didn't really have a host. I went there with my entire family and really wanted to spend time with them and see the town of Lincoln together."

While he didn't have a host, per say, Helu did get a chance to meet up with the other two official visitors. "I met Quentin Castille and Ryan Hill while I was there. Hill was committed and Castille committed on his trip."

Helu didn't commit this past weekend and it was expected that he wouldn't. He would like to take at least two other trips before deciding. "I'd like to take a trip to Oregon and California. Those two are definite visits for me. I will take those before making a decision."

Helu wasn't sure if it would just be the three updates or if it would take more than that before he could make a decision. "Only time will tell if I take more than three updates. If I get another offer that I want to go take a look at then I might."
