Practice Notes

Check out the skinny on today's practice as Nebraska finalizes preparations for their trip to Manhattan to play Kansas State.

Steve Octavien was cleared to practice today, but it wasn't a padded practice as typical thursdays are no pads. Head coach Bill Callahan said that he hadn't gotten with defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove to see just how Steve did today. It's questionable as to whether or not Octavien will play this weekend, but he'll more than likely suit up as part of the 70-man roster for the Kansas State game.

Greg Austin didn't practice today and Andy Christensen will most likely be the starter against KSU. If not him, Callahan said that players like Huff and even Byford could be used at that spot. Jacob Hickman is another who could fill in at either guard spot if needed.

Kurt Mann will travel and he's making progress, but don't expect him to see the field against Kansas State. While coach Callahan didn't address his situation, it's not out of the realm of possible that Mann could be ready to go when Texas comes calling on the 21st.

As part of the practice today, coach Dennis Wagner surprised the team with a group of riders on Harley Davidsons. Coach Callahan said there were some 40+ riders, who took a lap around the inside of the Hawks Indoor Center.

Callahan said that it was a fun thing for the team to see, but also acclimated them to the kind of noise they would hear down in Manhattan as it's "Harley Day" for the Kansas State home game with Nebraska.

If you don't know already, the game will be pay-per-view, so get with your satellite coverage provider or cable provider to see if they are offering the game this weekend.
