Prince likes Nebraska

A lot of recent recruiting attention has shifted to Prince Amukamara of Glendale (Ariz.) Apollo. The 6-foot-0 and 185 pound running back has a lot of people looking at his frame and seeing his speed, projecting him to play offense, defense and special teams in college. Amukamara is getting set to lead his team into the playoffs and then will take some official visits.

Nebraska is still looking for athletes that can play multiple positions. One of the best in the Southwest is Prince Amukamura of Glendale (Ariz.) Apollo. The 6-foot-0 and 185-pound Amukamura is leading his team to a very good season.

"The season is going pretty good," Amukamura said. "We're 7-2 or so right now. We have one more game to go before playoffs. We are already in."

"I think that I have 120+ carries for over 1,500 yards. I am averaging like 12 yards a carry and I already have 28 total touchdowns. That is rushing, receiving and returns."

Amukamura is featured a couple of different ways in the offense at Apollo. "We run a single-back and do some four-wide as well. I line up a little outside as a wide receiver in four-wide."

The versatility is obvious with rushing, receiving and returning yards/touchdowns. Amukamura notes that plus a couple of other strengths. "I am very versatile. I also have good field awareness. My speed is pretty good as well."

Amukamura's versatility have teams seeing him at positions beyond the one that he already stars at in Glendale. He does have his preference to a side of the football though.

"Some are and some are recruiting me as a wide receiver and as a defensive back. I would prefer to play offense in college. I really want to get on the field though, but preferably on offense."

One of the teams to recently throw their hat in the ring for Amukamura is Nebraska. Recently he was able to catch a Nebraska game on TV.

"Nebraska likes me as a running back. I know that Nebraska has a great program and that they are in the Big 12. I just like what I have seen so far when I have watched them on TV. I saw them against Texas."

Having a chance to see the offense at Nebraska, Amukamura began to visualize himself in the backfield. "I pictured myself in the backfield during that game. I could see myself playing there."

Amukamura would have made an official visit to Nebraska already had there not been such an early start time for their games. He is looking to possibly set another up for the last home game on Nebraska's schedule, but playoffs could get in the way.

"Yeah, I was supposed to come in for an official already to Nebraska. That early start time against Missouri won't allow me to travel."

"I was thinking about setting one up for November 25 (Colorado). I am not sure if I can make that either. Depends on the playoffs."

"I do want to see Nebraska. They are definitely a top two or top three team for me. My list of teams that I like that have offered is Fresno State, Nebraska and Nevada in no particular order."

"I also have offers from Wyoming, UTEP, and UNLV. I am still getting some interest from schools like UCLA, Colorado and Washington State."
