On the positive side, senior offensive guard Greg Austin and sophomore offensive tackle Matt Slauson practiced today, but the head coach couldn't say for certain as to whether either one would be ready to go this weekend.
The team went around town today, accompanied by the Husker head coach, as they visited a number of hospitals. "It was a great opportunity to visit a lot of people not as fortunate as us - not feeling as well," Callahan said. "So it was good to get out and spread some good cheer. We had a lot of fun (and) I know the players really liked this day and the fans were excited to see them as well."
Coach Callahan indicated that Nebraska will make up a little ground on official visits as they expect 10 visitors in this weekend. The staff had actually wanted more, but due to schedule conflicts with players from teams still playing, that wasn't going to be possible. "They are in playoffs still. That's a good sign that you have good players that are still playing," he said. "So, we have 10 that we are happy about, coming in this weekend, so we are looking forward to it."
