Bibbs sitting out this spring

It would be interesting to see Anthony Bibbs play, pain-free at Houston (Texas) Jersey Village. Last season, Bibbs was only limited to 164 carries, but made the most with every single try. This spring, Bibbs will watch Jersey Village get ready for the fall without him recovering from surgery. Despite that surgery, Bibbs is getting a lot of recruiting attention.

This spring has been going good for Anthony Bibbs, but it hasn't been what he imagined it would be. The 5-foot-10 and 194-pound running back from Houston (Texas) Jersey Village, will watch the spring from the sidelines.

"It's been going alright," Bibbs said. "I really haven't been doing anything but watching, so far. My coach wants me to lay off of the spring football."

While it's never fortunate to get injured, there is some light in knowing that it's not too serious. Bibbs did require some surgery, but he has been cleared to play. His coach just doesn't want another injury in the spring.

"It was my shoulder. I just had arthroscopic shoulder surgery done about two months ago. It's doing real good and I am cleared, but my coach doesn't want to risk re-injury."

So, even if the spring has been stopped in its tracks for Bibbs, recruiting has not. In fact, Bibbs just picked up his fourth offer from yet another Big 12 team.

"Recruiting hasn't stopped, it's going real good. I just picked up my fourth offer. I just got offered by Kansas, two days ago. Besides Kansas, I still have offers from Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.

Beyond the offers, Bibbs is getting some interest from some other schools that has him thinking that some others are close to offering. "I have been talking to Iowa State, Fresno State and Arizona. I talk to Arizona a lot. They are supposed to be offering me."

A lot of college programs have already been by Jersey village despite them only being in their first week of practice. Bibbs has been receiving phone calls too from college coaches already.

"There have been a lot of coaches here. Texas Tech, North Texas, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Colorado and some others have been here already. We've only had three days of spring practice."

"I have spoke to Iowa State, Nebraska, Fresno State and Arizona these past couple of days on the phone. They have all called me already."

One thing that stands out is Nebraska's interest in Bibbs. Nebraska has offered early, already been by the school and has already called him. Bibbs has taken note in the interest.

"I think that it's real encouraging. They have some needs at running back and they are looking for a good back this year. I am just glad they want me. I feel good to know that they are interested in me."

Bibbs said that he likes the interest by Nebraska in him for a number of reasons. There is one glaring thing that he is concerned about, but he says that he could potentially adjust to it.

"They are a very good school. They have a lot of good things going for them. I have heard that it's cold up there, but it would be something that I can adjust to."

Another thing that might be going against Nebraska could be the distance from Houston. Bibbs has a pretty special reason to want to stay within a decent distance so someone can come and watch him play.

"It's not that big of a deal. It's just my mom. I want her to make it to all of my games. I am really just worried about her. She's been to every game I have played since little league."

One reason why Nebraska might be rubbing off on Bibbs is because of some of their opponents. A third of the Big 12 conference is from the state of Texas.

"At Nebraska, I have been thinking that there is at least four teams in the state of Texas that you will play against anyway because of the Big 12. I don't think that it would be too much."
