Things looking good for Nebraska

A few weeks ago, Josh Williams wasn't on anyone's recruiting radar. It was obvious then that you could keep someone with his ability quiet until the evaluation period in Texas. The word is getting around about this pass-rushing extraordinaire from Denton (Texas) Ryan and he has since picked up a few more offers.

Denton (Texas) Ryan is a perennial powerhouse in Texas. Josh Williams will help a typically very aggressive Ryan defense be stout again. It was clear that the coaches at Ryan didn't want to get Williams hurt in the spring.

"The spring practices went well," Williams said. "We had our spring game the other Monday. I didn't play very much. I think it was only two series. They just kind of held me out."

The word is getting out about Williams. The latest three offers put Williams at an even 10 offers, total. "Yes, I picked up offers from Texas Tech, SMU and TCU. Those new offers are on top of the other ones I told you about before."

One team is standing out for Williams. He is talking with this team a lot. "I am talking to Nebraska, a lot. Things are going great. I have been talking with Coach Ted Gilmore."

"Coach Gilmore is just a great person. I really love talking to him. I have spoke to Coach Buddy Wyatt as well. Coach Gilmore is my recruiting coach and Coach Wyatt is the defensive line coach."

Williams said that the conversations between he and Nebraska have been about the current state of affairs. He hears about the recruiting class that they have going and what is actually going on in Lincoln.

"Well, he pretty much just tells me about the players that they have committed so far and the things that they have going on up there in Lincoln. He tells me about the campus and the academics."

Williams is well aware of the type of recruiting class that Nebraska is putting together. Off of the top of his head, Williams knew about the success of the Nebraska recruiting class on the offensive side of the football.

"They have Bryce Givens, a few other lineman and they just got that quarterback, Blaine Gabbert. I think that their offensive line is going to be all five star guys and players that will be top 100 players."

Williams has thought about being part of the recruiting class for Nebraska. He likes the sound of it. "It really sounds great. They are on their way to a great class. I think that if I am added to it that I could help out."

The conversations between Williams and the defensive line coach have been about the possibility of getting Williams to the next level. "Coach Wyatt and I talk about the next level and how he thinks that he can help me. I have only spoke to him a couple of times because I talk mostly to Coach Gilmore."

There isn't a date yet for Williams to get to Lincoln. That trip is coming up though if it were up to Williams. "I am working on getting a date set up for a visit up to Nebraska."
