Chicago D-End Has 14 Offers

Chicago's Glenn Foster has become one of the hottest prospects in the Land of Lincoln. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from Mt. Carmel high turned up the heat at two combines this spring and now has 14 scholarship offers under his belt. To say Foster has come a long way is a bit of an understatement.

"I got cut my freshman year at Mt. Carmel," Glenn Foster told

"We had about 150 kids come out for the freshman football team and 60 of us were cut including me. I've never played football before and I didn't really have any expectations. Mt. Carmel has a great football tradition and my friends and family talked me into trying out for football."

Foster wasn't a member of the Caravan football squad as a freshman but he did letter in track and wrestling. Those two sports helped him get faster and stronger which in turn helped when Glenn tried out a second time for the football team as a sophomore.

"I did make the (football) team as a sophomore," Foster said. "I'm a quick learner plus I got bigger and stronger from my freshman year. I lifted a lot of weights and worked on my speed. I actually went from a 4.9 40 as a freshman and now I run a 4.4.

"Wrestling has helped with my leverage and my ability to use my hands. I work with our speed coach all the time and everything has worked out. I'm a hard worker and that's what I think the coaches like about me."

Foster was moved up to the varsity at the end of his sophomore year and that's when things started to take off.

"The coaches wanted to get me some experience," Foster said. "I moved up to the varsity and practiced with the team during the play-off's, that got me prepared for my junior season.

"I started most of my junior year but I had to sit out a few weeks because I hurt my back. I'm 100% now and I did get to play in the state championship last year."

Foster has 14 scholarship offers and he's beginning to narrow things down. A commitment could come before the end of the summer.

"Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ball State, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Akron, Toledo, Bowling Green and Miami." Foster said.

"I've narrowed it down to Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois. I'm hoping that Michigan offers me this summer and I might camp there but I'm not sure. I'd like to commit before the end of the summer.

"I haven't completely ruled out West Virginia, Kansas State, Wisconsin or Indiana. West Virginia told me that they are close to offering."

Colorado and Kansas State are the only two schools recruiting Foster to play linebacker, most schools are projecting Glenn at a defensive end. Foster carries a 2.7 GPA in the classroom and he scored a 22 on his ACT.
