"I'm doing great," Rippy said. "I got an offer from Nebraska earlier this week. That was very exciting."
"Nebraska has great academic support for athletes. I know that they graduate a lot of their players. That's what really interests me about going there."
"Nebraska has the complete package. They have athletics and academics. I could be very successful (at Nebraska)."
Rippy has been talking to the newest member of the Nebraska staff who actually came from Ohio State. "Coach Joe Rudolph and I talk and he's a good guy. He's very straight forward. I have never spoke to Kevin Cosgrove."
Rippy is on the road and will be for the next week or more. "I was actually up at Akron today for camp because they offered me. It was basically an unofficial visit. I will be on the road basically all this week. We are planning on going out to Nebraska."
The offer from Nebraska really set off the feelings that Rippy is having for the Huskers. "Nebraska is my top interest right now. Nebraska is on top."
All of these visits this summer are so Rippy will be in a position to commit before the season starts. "I should have my commitment done by the end of this summer. I am actually thinking about graduating early when I get done with the season."
Rippy plays outside linebacker and says that he excels in pass defense and as a tackler. The teams that he faced would intentionally run away from him last season.
"I would say covering tight ends and running backs. I am a great tackler in the open field. I am fast for a guy my size. I am about 6-2 and 220-pounds. I ran a 4.5 at the combine at Pittsburgh."
"I play both outside spots. At the beginning of the season I was playing SAM. When I was playing SAM though everyone ran away from me. I started to move around and play a little of both."
One doesn't have to guess how Rippy might feel about an Ohio State offer. He is planning on camping there later this month, but said that he has the offer that he wanted.
"It's not going to change a bit. Ohio State is just another school. Nebraska, it just doesn't compare. Nebraska has the tradition, the academics and that is pretty straight forward."
"That really tells you something. They make it that important about their grades and to play football. They want you to get your education, become a man and get your degree."
