Huskers to host JC LB tomorrow

It's been a bit of a conclusion that this junior college linebacker would end up at California. That is where his mom wanted him to go and that's where it just "made sense". However, it's his decision and in order to make a good, final decision at least one trip will be made. Tomorrow, this top junior college linebacker will be in Lincoln.

Since May, Shaun Mohler has really been considered a solid commitment to California. Tomorrow though, he will take a trip to see another school.

"I am taking a visit to Nebraska," Mohler said. "I am going to be there tomorrow actually. I want to see some other schools before I sign."

Mohler wants to make sure that the decision that he makes is the right one. There is a lot of time before he signs his LOI and doesn't want any second thoughts.

"I wanted to take some trips, check out Nebraska, because I don't sign until February. I don't want anything like that in the back of my head."

Nebraska is a ways away from Costa Mesa (Calif.) Orange Coast and just California. He is compelled to go and see one of the top football programs though.

"It's just a big time program. It's one of the biggest programs in the history of college football. I just want to check that out."

"Nebraska sends me all of this great stuff. It looks real good. I want to verify it and I know that they are a big time program."

While Nebraska's tradition seems to be speaking to Mohler, it doesn't hurt that one of Nebraska's best recruiters has been his recruiting coach.

"Coach Bill Busch has been recruiting me from Nebraska. He's a great guy. We talk every day. He says that he can help me out a lot and there is a great future for me there."

Nebraska has a need at the linebacker position and Mohler knows all about it. In fact, he feels needed and wanted by the Nebraska staff and says that is what is setting them apart.

"They definitely want me to come in and play. I like that. I didn't really get that from Cal. They weren't recruiting me as much as Nebraska has."

"Coach Busch told me that four linebackers would be leaving next year. They like the style that I play, I play physical and crazy. They say I fit in perfect there."

Last year Mohler had 108 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and six sacks. He has some serious qualities at the linebacker position. "I would say my speed. I can make my reads real quick and know where it's going to go. I am also a very sure tackler."

Mohler is staying busy this summer. He has work, class and workouts for football. The summer is hardly about off-time. "I have a job this summer. I also have night classes and we do workouts with the team. Workouts are around 4:00. I am pretty busy."
