James planning trip to Nebraska

One of the most productive running backs in Texas 3A last year was LaMichael James from Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau. It seems that James has been picking up some new offers lately and one might have bolted to the front of the line. James liked this team before they offered and is eyeing a September official date to a Big 12 team.

LaMichael James from Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau ran for 1,600 yards last year, had another 500 yards receiving and had 19 total touchdowns on his way to leading his team to a 3A title.

James has been picking up a few more offers as people continue to find out about this multi-purpose back. A recent offer really excited James because to that point he hadn't heard from that team.

"I picked up the Nebraska offer a few weeks ago, maybe," James said. "I didn't know what to think when I got that Nebraska offer. I know that I was excited about it."

"I really hadn't talked to anyone from Nebraska up to that point. That's what was shocking to me. I just liked Nebraska and then they offered."

While James hadn't spoke to Nebraska before the offer, he is making up for lost time now. It seems that he has some sort of contact with Nebraska daily and is in regular contact with multiple coaches from Lincoln.

"I have spoke to Nebraska about every day since. I talk to Coach Bill Callahan and Coach Randy Jordan. Coach Callahan texts me about every day."

The Nebraska offer might have budged their way all the way right up James' leader board. It seems that he is eyeing an official visit date and he might just end his recruiting right then and there.

"I don't know. I want to go up there when they play USC. That's when I take my official visit. If everything goes well on that trip then I am just going to commit."

If everything goes well, the process will end for James, but he would take the rest of his trips. If he does return from Lincoln, uncommitted, he has a couple of other visits in mind.

"I would like to take all of my visits, but I might commit on my first trip. If I take the other trips I would go to Minnesota and Missouri for sure."

As of right now, James is sitting on a pretty solid top four. "I have a top four, I think. I would say that they would be Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and TCU. That's my list right now."
