Visit goes well for Parish

A little known name to the recruiting world is Darius Parrish, but that doesn't mean that Parrish isn't able. Nebraska was able to get the defensive tackle to venture north to Lincoln to check out the campus for an unofficial today. Parish took the time to update Big Red Report about the trip to Lincoln on his way back to Wichita.

At 6-foot-4 and 325-pounds, Darius Parish is a load of a defensive tackle. Parish hails from Wichita (Kans.) North and took the time today to visit one of the three schools that have offered him.

"Yeah, we got there around noon today," Parish said. "We are on the way back home. I went there with my mom and my mentor."

"It went pretty good. The facilities were great. There are some real good coaches up there. That was the first time to really sit down with the coaches and talk."

The month of July is often times the only chance that coaches get a chance to take their vacations. The Nebraska staff is putting in some overtime and was mostly all there to greet Parish.

"I got to talk to Coach Ted Gilmore and Coach Bill Callahan. Most of the coaches were there in Lincoln today. I thought that my time with them was a good experience."

"I got a chance to talk to Buddy Wyatt too. He's seems like a real good coach. He sees me as a defensive tackle and that I will fit in there real good."

Parish mentioned that he got to see some of the players working out earlier in the day in Lincoln. "When we got up to Lincoln earlier today the team was working out. It was pretty laid back. I don't think that this was one of their intense days."

Parish mentioned that the facilities were really unlike anything he had seen before. "The facilities were updated, very modern. They had computers and everything. It was different. It was like nothing I had seen before."

Parish said that overall that the visit to Nebraska went very well and that he would like to see Nebraska again in the fall for an official visit.

"I haven't set up an official visit to Nebraska yet. I would definitely like to set up an official visit to Nebraska to see a game there."

Parish is holding three offers. The offers are from Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado State. Parish is also being recruited by TCU, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Kansas State and Arkansas among others.
