"We aren't doing too good," Lewis said. "We're 0-4. We don't have a lot of team chemistry and we make a lot of small mistakes in our games."
"Last game I had 17 tackles. I am up to about 40 on the season. I play outside because I am fast, I can read the field real well and I just like to tackle, I like to hit."
Lewis is a force to be reckoned with at the second level. He stands 6-foot-2 and 210-pounds and still has 4.5/40 speed. It's no wonder why so many schools have interest in the linebacker.
"I have been working on getting an offer from Texas Tech, Houston and Texas. I spoke to Rice and they told me to lose 30 pounds and they want me to play in the secondary. I told them I couldn't do it."
Lewis went on his first official visit last week. "I went on an official visit to Minnesota last week. It was O.K. The coaches were really nice and everything. It was O.K."
There is another official visit to a Big 10 school this weekend for Lewis. "I am going to Purdue this weekend for the Ohio State game. I know that it's a nice school there. I want to see how it is."
Lewis has another official visit set up for a weekend in November. This time to see a Big 12 school. "I already have one set up to Nebraska in November. I don't know the weekend, but it's when they play against Kansas State."
It's not a down deal yet, but Lewis might go and see another Big 12 North team in December. "I think that I am going to take another one in December to Iowa State, but I haven't officially set that one up yet."
The visit that Lewis has taken and the visits that he is scheduled to take, don't meet his number one criteria. A criteria that he admits is a very big concern and part of his college decision.
"I am looking for something that is close to home. That is the biggest thing. Also, a place where I can play early is big."
"Staying close to home is kind of big, to me. I like the schools that have offered and that I have been too, but I also like Texas football."
