Thompson talks about commitment

Brandon Thompson's mom said that there were a couple of nights when the number of calls her son received was close to 20. Hopefully, following this commitment, some of the craziness that is the recruiting process, will go away. Brandon and his mom keep it in perspective though, thankful for the chance to play college football, but still happy it's over.

The day a recruit decides to commit to Nebraska a little slice of Nebraska media is revealed. Brandon Thompson, from The Woodlands (Texas), said that the phone literally rang all day.

"It's been a little crazy," Thompson said. "I got a bunch of calls about the commitment. I got a lot during school that I couldn't take."

Thompson, a 6-foot-6 and 280-pound lineman, said that he called the Nebraska coaches right after making calls to all of the other schools that he wasn't going to attend.

"I actually called the coaches at Nebraska at about 12:30 on Tuesday to commit. My mom wanted me to make calls to all of the other schools before to let them know."

Thompson wanted to take one more official visit, following his official to Lincoln and then make a decision. That's exactly what he did.

"Yeah, I did take a visit to Purdue this past weekend. It didn't go as well for me as the Nebraska visit did the week before."

The additional visit that Thompson took set the Lincoln visit that much further apart from all of the other schools he had seen.

"I just felt more comfortable there on my visit. I just liked it a lot better than all of the other schools that I have seen."

One thing that Thompson is interested in doing, but doesn't know if he can, is make it back up to Lincoln for another game. Otherwise, it might be in the spring.

"I'm going to try to, but it's going to be hard. It's so far away and because of the season. If I get the chance to, I will."
