Huskers interested in TE/DE?

Nebraska is still looking for a tight end that can stretch the field as a wide receiver and also block off of the edge. The Huskers have found a prospect from Oregon that they have offered and his biggest upside might be that he is as good at defensive end as he is as a tight end. What are the chances that he ends up a Husker?

The season for Demetrius Guice has been going pretty good. The 6-foot-5 and 240-pound tight end/defensive end from Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic says that they are in the playoffs for sure.

"I have been playing tight end and outside linebacker," Guice said. "I have no idea what my stats are right now."

Guice has been a standout for Central Catholic on the offensive and the defensive side of the football. Guice is being recruited by most schools as a tight end, but are leaving the option open for defense.

"As a tight end, I can block really well. I can also catch the ball and then make a move. On defense, I can keep everything inside, get to the quarterback and force him to do things."

Guice says that basically all the schools except for Cal like him to play offense. California said that he could play either. Guice does have a preference where he plays.

"I want to play offense, but if I could see the field early on defense I would do that. The situation would really dictate that and I would want to do what was best for the team."

Guice has been busy with recruiting. The two schools contacting him the most right now are Cal and Washington. While those two are contacting him the most, Guice is keeping things open until after the season ends.

"I want to probably wait and see what happens after the season is over. My coach said that is when a lot of schools will probably come in and take a look at offering me."

Cal and Washington are two schools that geographically are pretty close to Guice. He says that distance is not an issue and is actually considering some other schools that are further and closer than Cal and Washington.

"I also have offers from Nebraska, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon and Oregon State. I would put those schools right below Cal and Washington on my list of favorites. I am interested in everyone."

As it appears right now, Guice is planning on taking official visits to Arizona State, Cal and Washington. There are no other schools that he is considering visiting at the moment.

One school that is on the list of having offered, but he hasn't had a lot of communication with is Nebraska. "I really don't know a lot about them. They offered me over a text message and I don't think that I have ever spoken with anyone from Nebraska."
