Tennessee RB taking it all in

How many yards doesn't always tell the story of what a running back is capable. How many carries doesn't always give you the big picture as well. But, if you get the average of yards per carry and you get at least some idea of how prolific a running back is. A rule of thumb is that anything over 4 yards per carry is going to get you noticed. Well, if you average almost 10, what will that get you? Melvin Cole could tell you first hand.

Melvin Cole (Memphis, TN (BriarCrest))- (RB-5'10-201-4.36/40-350/bench-550/squat) Melvin Cole has high expectations place on him, mainly by himself. Finishing his junior season he averaged nearly 10 yards a carry. Now, midway thru his senior campaign he isn't that far off his previous mark.

"I have about 600 yards to date, last game I had 162 yards on only 17 carries, overall were doing really well." BriarCrest is currently 5-2 on the year.

While having no offers in his hand at the current moment Melvin is not discouraged in the slightest "Ever since I attended the Nike camp at Georgia this summer I've been getting calls every week. I'm not worried and I'm not in a rush. I'm not even trying to think about it until this semester is over."

And who are the schools keeping in constant contact with Cole at this point? "Well, I hear from Miss St., Ole Miss, Arkansas St., Alabama and Nebraska about every week or week and a half."

Melvin has not set up any officials, nor will he until his high school football season is nearly over. The schools that keep in contact with him are those who will most likely get those visits.

Melvin has yet to take the SAT/ACT and currently has a 2.6 core GPA.
