Burks to visit Nebraska

Nebraska might have found a little bit of a Texas hidden gem. The best part about it is, that after the upcoming visit to Nebraska, Greg Burks says that he is probably done taking official visits. In a day and age where keeping a recruit quiet is getting increasingly difficult, it's hard to find a guy like Burks this late in the game.

Greg Burks will make it two for two this weekend. Last weekend was his first official visit and this weekend he will be taking his second.

"I am going to Nebraska this weekend," Burks said. "This happened last week. I have been pretty active with the Nebraska coaching staff recently."

The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound Burks has 4.5 speed and that size and speed is one of the reasons Nebraska has turned up the heat for him recently.

"Coach Shawn Watson is recruiting me from Nebraska. He's been by the school already a couple of times the last couple of weeks."

"Coach Watson is real cool. Nebraska though, I don't know a lot about them. I am going to find out a little about them this weekend."

Well, Burks does know a little about Nebraska. He has a buddy that is actually in Lincoln that he played with last year, Marcus Mendoza.

"Marcus is up there. I spoke to him a couple of days ago. He told me that I was going to love it up there."

When Burks makes his trips he is looking for a few different things. Most of all though, he wants to fit in well with the people in the program.

"I am looking at how I fit in with the players and the coaches. I am looking at the academics as well."

Burks is only holding two offers, but his third offer might come as early as this weekend up in Lincoln.

"I don't have an offer yet from Nebraska, but I think that I will get one on my trip. I only have two offers right now and they're from TCU and Iowa State."

This past weekend, Burks made his first official visit. "I went to TCU this past weekend. It was really nice. I liked that trip a lot."

After the Nebraska visit, Burks thinks that he will be done taking trips. The teams he is considering the most are the two that he will take trips to see.

"I probably won't take any more visits. I'm thinking that it's going to come down to TCU and Nebraska. I don't know if I will commit this weekend. It will kind of depend. I have no idea."

Burks played wide receiver mostly for Houston (Texas) Spring Woods. However, Nebraska likes Burkes as an athlete and he would actually prefer to play defense.

"They like me as an athlete right now. I would prefer to play safety in college more than likely. They have talked to me about playing safety."
