Whitmore set to see Lincoln

The name back in April didn't mean a lot because Nebraska fans first heard about David Whitmore in a commitment story. There wasn't a lot of press for Whitmore in the weeks leading up to a commit. Now, since the change in the Nebraska coaching staff, Whitmore has been on the tips of more tongues to get a full understanding of his commitment status.

Coach Ronnie Thompson, the head coach for Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial, couldn't have been more adamant about David Whitmore and his commitment status to Nebraska. The 6-foot-1 and 180-pound Whitmore will be in Lincoln in January as well.

"I know that he will have his official visit in two weeks," coach Thompson said. "I know that he is looking forward to the visit and real sound on his commitment."

How sound? Well, before the dead period came around, the new head coach, secondary coach and defensive line coach were in-house with Whitmore and his mom.

"They came down, Bo Pelini the head coach, the secondary coach and the line coach, and they had a real good visit. They all sat down with the mom and David is as set as they come. He's as firm as they get."

Whitmore committed the same weekend of the Nebraska spring game in April and has never wavered with the decision. His father played professional football with the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49'ers.
