OC/QB Coach Shawn Watson issues statement

The speculation has run rampant following reports of potential interest in the Alabama Offensive Coorindator position from current Husker offensvie coordinator and quarterback coach Shawn Watson. Just a few minutes ago, coach Watson issued the following statement concerning his status at Nebraska.

The following quotes are those of Shawn Watson, issued via an official release from the University of Nebraska.

"I am excited about continuing in my role as the offensive coordinator at Nebraska . I deeply appreciate the opportunity that Coach Pelini and Coach Osborne have given me. My family and I enjoy being at Nebraska . This is a great place to do what I love and that is coaching football.

"Right now my focus is on helping finish up a strong recruiting class and looking ahead to spring football. We have a great group of kids in our program and I look forward to coaching the offense we have coming back for next season."

Note: Along with former head coach Bill Callahan, Nebraska's offense proved to be one of the most productive in the country last year. The Husker ranked 28th in scoring offense, averaging 33.42 points per game; ranked 9th in total offense, averaging 468.52 yards per game and ranked 7th in passing offense with an average of 323.8 yards per game.
