Wednesday Practice Report

Nebraska continues preparations for their up-coming home game against the Texas Longhorns. As weather shouldn't be a factor for NU, it's considered a topic of interest down in Texas as the forecast calls for weather in the thirties, with a chance of snow and some wind. Check out the rest of the practice notes for today's updates.

It was windy, cold, dreary and basically miserable, but that was only for the media. For the football players, especially here at Nebraska, this is football weather. Certainly, some can think of more idea conditions to play in, but as coach Frank Solich stated, this is something they have gotten used to. "It will not bother us." Solich stated."This kind of weather won't bother us one bit." Solich did say that regardless of the weather, he doesn't anticipate it having a major effect on Texas either. "But, it doesn't matter." Solich stated. "It will come down to how well we play and I don't know that weather will be a factor in the game."

Practices went normal, except for the fact that the defense worked out at Cook Pavilion some, allowing more space for all units to work. "We had a split practice, so that again, we could have more room without having to go on the grass and spread out." Solich stated. "We ended up together in terms of trying to get some things done with everyone on the field, but all in all, it was a good practice."

It was announced that Punter, Kyle Larson was named as one of the ten semi-finalists for the Ray Guy Award, given to the best punter in the country. "We are really glad to see [Kyle} named." Solich stated. "In our minds, he is really deserving of that kind of an honor, has had a great career here and we are proud that he is one of the semi-finalists."

Injury Notes

Cory Ross, who was carted off the field yesterday, did not practice, but is expected back before the end of the week.

Wes Cody did practice today.

Lannie Hopkins continues to undergo tests after being knocked unconscious during the Texas A&M game and his status for this weekend is still up in the air.

Chris Kelsay did not practice and is questionable for this weekend, but as Solich stated, "It's not out of the question."
