"It was awesome," Burkhead said. "I guess the facilities for sure stood out the most to me on the trip.
Beyond the facilities, Burkhead said that the people at the game; the coaches, players, fans and recruits; made the visit very enjoyable. He was blown away by the fan turn-out for the spring game.
"I met all of the coaches really, a lot of fans and a lot of players. Everyone was really nice. It was just a great atmosphere there at the game.
"Oh my gosh, 80,000 fans were there for the spring game. It's a practice, you could say, that was just crazy."
One of the things that took Burkhead back was the attention to the recruits by the fans. He had to turn down autograph requests.
"I guess that when me and some of the other recruits walked out that some of the fans were up there clapping for us. That is pretty amazing.
"I had some kids come up to me and ask me to sign some autographs. I didn't sign any. I told them I wasn't a player."
The visit was a perfect score to Burkhead. There wasn't anything that he felt was missed on the tour of the facilities or around the campus.
"It was definitely a ‘10'. I didn't really see any negatives in the trip. I saw everything that I needed to see, I guess.
"We took a massive tour around the campus and the football facilities. It was a really great visit."
Another thing that Burkhead liked about the visit was how the offense seems to be running back-centric. The Nebraska running backs scored by running and receiving this past weekend and that caught Burkhead's eye.
"I love how the offense is focused around the running back and how the running back is used in the passing and the running game. That is the type of system that I would love to play in and they have it there at Nebraska."
Burkhead is really looking at a combine, maybe another spring game and a couple of visits to schools in a state that he left over a decade ago. Burkhead will travel back to Kentucky to see those schools.
"As of right now, I just have the Nike combine plans for this weekend. After that, I might go to the Arkansas spring game, but I don't know for sure yet.
"After that, I am going to Kentucky the first week in the summer. I am originally from there. I moved here when I was six years old and have a lot of relatives there. I will go and see Louisville and Kentucky."
The Nebraska visit might have come at the right time for Husker fans. The perfect score on the visit and the glowing review could carry them all the way through the summer up to when Burkhead decides to commit.
"It's still kind of off in the future a little ways, but I would really like to get it done this summer sometime before the season starts."
