"Nebraska just offered me about 10 minutes ago. I called you as soon as I got off the phone with the recruiting coach."
The recruiting coach from Nebraska and Williams had a chance to talk tonight about the offer. The opportunity for Yahshua Williams and Josh Williams to play together in Lincoln after their days at Ryan came up in the phone conversation.
"Coach Tim Beck called me while I was working out and I missed his call. I called him back. He just told me that ‘Hey, we want to offer you!'.
"He saw my game film and he really liked it. He told me that they wanted both of the Williams out of Denton Ryan up there at Nebraska."
Williams is a bit of a rare-breed. He has the size of a safety, but plays cornerback. Williams is making the full-time move from cornerback to safety this fall for Ryan.
"I have played cornerback up to this year and I will play safety this year. I have played a couple games at safety. I could play both.
"I think that I would be fine with either. I mean, safety is just a few yards back and off the ball. There's nothing wrong with that."
Nebraska likes Williams at both positions. That suits Williams just fine when it comes to looking at Nebraska as a potential school for him.
"They said that they could use me in the secondary at either safety or cornerback. I told him that I was comfortable with that."
Williams wanted to make it up to the Nebraska spring game in April, but was unable to attend. He recently received a letter about camps in Lincoln and thinks that he found a date that will work for him.
"I think that they have a camp that I can make this summer. They sent me a letter and I told my mom about it. I would like to see their facilities."
The offers that Williams has received are from some very good programs from around the nation. The latest offer to his portfolio has put the Huskers at the top of his list though.
"Nebraska is all the way at the top. I am just excited about that. They play a lot of schools in Texas and around Texas. My friends and family can come and watch me play."
