Wenrick picks up first offer

At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, you would have expected bigger stats from Craig Wenrick. The problem was he was "only" buried on the depth chart by two seniors who happened to both sign division one letters of intent. It now appears that Flower Mound (Texas) will be sending their third tight end in two years to play division one football after Wenrick received his first offer.

Craig Wenrick, with just a few days left in the evaluation period, got what he wanted. Wenrick had waited until the last week in the evaluation period to get his first offer

"I got my first offer today," Wenrick said. "Buffalo offered me. I don't know who the coach that is recruiting me from there, but Coach Turner Gill is the head coach."

It's an honor to know that someone wants you to come and play football for them and pay for your education. Wenrick knows that. He has thought a lot about the significance of this first offer.

"I am excited. It's good to know that someone wants me to come and play college football for them, that I get that opportunity and realize the dream of playing college football."

Buffalo, N.Y. isn't exactly close to Flower Mound (Texas) which is a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. Wenrick doesn't care.

"I'll play anywhere. It doesn't matter where they are at. They called me last night and we talked for almost an hour. I really liked their coaches."
