Alabama cornerback pleased with NU camp

Check out one of our latest Summer camp updates as we talk to Alabama prep standout, cornerback Jonathan Edwards. Edwards already had some offers in hand, but his trip to Lincoln was a chance to earn another. So, how did Edwards show for the coaches of the big red?

It's a business trip more than a sight-seeing trip, especially for out-of-state kids trying to make an impression. 5 foot, 9 inch, 185 pound cornerback Jonathan Edwards was just one of close to 400 kids trying to do just that.

With at least one offer already in-hand, that coming from Southern Miss., Edwards was seeing if he could add to the total. Following his camp in Lincoln, Edwards thinks he might have done just that. "I thought I was the best cornerback there. In the one-on-ones and all that, I thought I showed what I could do," Edwards said.

Edwards said that he recorded a 31-inch vertical and a 4.4 in the agility run.

During the three-day experience, Edwards said that the coaches commented on what he was doing and how he was doing throughout. "They said I had really good technique. They liked how I used my hands and my feet," he said.

Obviously Edwards doesn't know for certain on whether he'd get an offer or not, but even without the offer he says the Huskers and the staff made a big impression on them. "Before coming here, I didn't think anything of Nebraska. But now I'd have to put them at the top," he said. "I don't have an offer yet, but I feel good about how I did."

Jonathan said that with the Husker camp in the rearview mirror he sets his sights on Kentucky, Auburn and Vanderbilt, all teams he plans on visiting over the off-season.
