Gardner had a solid year last year as team knew better than to try and throw at Whitmore. Gardner finished the year 47 tackles and four interceptions. This summer he is working a lot on his game and on school.
"The summer is going pretty good," Gardner said. "I have been working out a lot. We are also playing seven on seven. I don't have any summer trips planned right now.
"I am also taking summer classes this year. I am taking summer classes so I can leave early. I want to enroll at college in the spring."
While Gardner hasn't had a lot of recruiting publicity it's not because he doesn't deserve it. Gardner has a double-digit offer total as of right now.
While Gardner does have a lot of offers to consider he has yet to narrow his list. He is currently in the process of researching the schools to see where he fits in.
"Not really. As of right now they are all the same to me. I am doing research on them right now to see where I best fit in."
While the Huskers haven't offered Gardner they are still recruiting him quite a bit. Gardner likes the Blackshirt tradition at Nebraska and the new head coaching hire that Nebraska made last year.
"Nebraska is a school that's still recruiting me. They are pretty good. I like their defensive tradition that they have there are Nebraska.
"I like the fact that their head coach is a defensive coach. That's a real good fit for them and that will help them out up there."
