Huskers reel in another from Lone Star State

People were waiting for the commitments to fall after Cody Green, a 5-star quarterback commitment, chose Nebraska earlier in the month. There was a little while before they started to fall, but when it rains it pours and in a good way for Nebraska. The Huskers nabbed the third commitment in as many days and the second offensive lineman of the trio and was just at Nebraska last week.

Nick Ash is the latest Nebraska commitment. The 6-foot-5 and 265-pound offensive lineman, rated the #44 OG and a three-star recruit by, from Keller (Texas) actually committed yesterday to Nebraska.

"Yes sir," Ash said. "I committed to Nebraska. I called Coach Barney Cotton yesterday to commit. Carl Pelini is my recruiting coach, but I have been talking to Coach Cotton a lot more lately because he is my position coach."

Ash said that there was obvious joy from the other end of the phone when he called Nebraska to inform them about the news of his desire to commit.

"Coach Cotton was very excited that I wanted to commit. He told me that Nebraska has wanted me from the very beginning. That was great to hear."

Ash took a trip to Nebraska to see Lincoln for the spring game. He returned last week to really focus some attention on the academic side of the school and came away very impressed.

"Just overall for me, the fans there are incredible in Lincoln. It was also the coaching staff. They are all great to work with. The team is also a close group. Overall, it's just a great place to be."

Ash is rated as on offensive guard, but could play anywhere along the offensive line for Nebraska. "They told me that they will play me wherever I feel the most comfortable."

Ash is the third commitment in as many days, but more than that he is the sixth commitment out of nine total that calls the state of Texas home. "It's nice to know I will have something in common with so many up there. It will be good to have people that you have heard of and know when you are up there."
