Wednesday Practice Report

Nebraska continues preparations for Colorado in this elongated session as they have almost two full weeks to prepare. Injuries are a concern, but also, so is addressing the youth that has yet to see the field. Coach Solich addressed that and more in today's post practice report.

"Full padded practice today, we went one against ones." Coach Solich stated as another practice day came to a close. It is more of the usual as you would expect, even in this elongated session of practices, having almost two full weeks before hosting Colorado.

One of the more significant things for tomorrow's practice, will be that the redshirts will actually be taking the field for a scrimmage. "We are looking for guys that will step up and show aggressiveness." Solich stated. "We know that they are not going to know the defensive and offensive schemes in and out, because they have because they have been running a lot of scout team plays, but we are interested in effort, we are interested in athletic ability and toughness."

"It will be good for those guys. They are sure anxious to get work like that done."

Amongst other news from practice is that Jammal Lord did not practice for the second day in a row and his status is "day to day", but coach Solich was firm in that it was nothing serious. "No, it is not serious."

Also, back-up TE, Jon Bowling's status has now been settled, but it's not the answer coach Solich wanted to give. "Jon Bowling will require surgery on an LCL injury that occurred very injury in the game." Solich stated. "It was in a pass pattern, bending over to catch the ball and caught a knee on a helmet."

With practices ensuing after Kansas State, you might wonder as to what Kansas State taught coach Solich about his offense this last week or what that side of the ball showed him in determining just how far NU has to go during practices up until the CU game in apprx. a week and a half. Coach Solich wonders as well. "There are certain phases of the game that we did not do well in at all and that we played poorly in and certainly with the offensive line, that was the case."

"They are making strides, but that was certainly a reality check in terms of where we are at and where we need to continue to strive to get."

Kickoff time for the Colorado game is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. CST and will be broadcast by ABC.
