Sometimes recruiting a pair of teammates is an amazing idea. Other times, if you miss on one then the other won't consider coming there anymore. That isn't the case with Abrecus Martinez from Rayville (La.). The 6-foot-2.5 and 190-pound Martinez has set up a couple of official visits so far. Are the Huskers one of them?
The season is just about upon us and that has led some high school teams already into fall camp. Head Coach Bo Barton and his team from Rayville (La.) have already hit the field getting ready for the upcoming season.
"We have been working already," Coach Bo Barton said about his Rayville team. "We have been hitting the practice field at about 5:00 now getting ready for the upcoming season."
Rayville is stacked. Most notably, they have a pair of wide receivers that have picked up division one offers. Kenny Bell, a four-star recruit according to Scout.com, recently committed to LSU.
Across from Bell is Abrecus Martinez. Martinez, a 6-foot-2.5 and 190-pound receiver, only has one year of prep football under his belt. Regardless, he hauled in 50 passes for 853 yards and 12 scores.
Martinez has at least picked up offers from Nebraska and Tulsa so far while receiving interest from schools such as LSU, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Mississippi State.
Rayville had already concluded their practices for the day and Martinez wasn't around, but Head Coach Bo Barton was pretty much on top of Martinez's situation and knew that there were two, set official visit dates.
"He has set up an official visit to Nebraska and another to Tulsa. I believe that the visit to Nebraska is for September 6 and that the one to Tulsa is on the 20th."
Big Red Report will get a hold of Head Coach Bo Barton and Abrecus Martinez again tomorrow to talk about the official visits and the latest on recruiting in general.
