"The summer has gone really well," Alford said. "I had a scrimmage last Friday that I did pretty well in. I have another scrimmage this coming week and the first game is next week against Edgewood."
Alford had a limited chance to put up numbers last season, but with a featured role this year as a senior and the fact that he is putting on weight and adding strength he is going to have solid numbers. Not to mention the change of offense that should help out the numbers as well.
"I feel pretty good about the upcoming season. We are changing the style of offense that we are going to run and I will be running the ball a little more. I am happy about that.
"I get the show off my ability to run the ball a little more, a little less passing, but I will still get my chances to play some wide receiver and will get a chance to keep up my receiving yards."
Alford is still sitting on just a handful of offers. There are a few MAC schools and then a Big 12 offer that really makes Alford excited about the opportunity to play on a big stage in college.
The Huskers have made an impression on Alford with the offer as well as with what they have going on as a program. Alford is going to try and get some more information from Nebraska later this week.
"Oh yeah, I like Nebraska. I have been checking their website. I know a lot about what they are doing. I know who they are recruiting. I know that I can play there, if I put the work in.
"Like I said, I have been looking at their website and I know about their spring game. I know how they are doing and I need to get in touch with Coach Tim Beck. I have some numbers that I need to call."
Another reason why Alford wants to get in touch with Nebraska is about an official visit. The Huskers are a team that Alford would like to go and see this fall.
"I would love to get up there for an official visit during the season. I know that Nebraska is far away, but I would definitely like to get up there to see them.
"It's Big 12 football. They have a lot of good competition, they play on T.V. a lot and it makes me feel like a better player. It makes me feel good to possibly play in the Big 12."
