This summer, Martin has been working on his game and working on becoming a better leader. He has taken the time out to not only spend time with his team, but the freshman team as a workout partner and coach.
"The summer has been cool," Martin said. "I have gotten bigger, faster and stronger. I have been doing a lot of running and practice. More stuff than the coach asks me to do.
"There is a need to get better as a player and also to be that leader. I also help coach freshman linebackers. They practice in the mornings and we are in the evenings.
"So, in the morning I jog up to the school and I just work with them. I coach with them, run with them and lift with them. Then I get back that night to workout with our team."
Martin can go sideline to sideline from his MIKE position. A lot of that has to go with his athleticism, but more than that it's about drive and motor.
"As a linebacker, my strengths are, going off what my coaches say, that I am crazy, I like to hit and I just love the game of football. I take it personal. I am just really competitive out there on the field."
Martin has a handful of offers and an equal list of other teams that seem very close to offering. Despite the offers and the interest he claims no favorites as of now.
Martin is looking for a school that is genuinely interested in him as a player. He wants a team that can present to him the need and the desire for him to be part of their program.
"I am looking for a school that is really interested in me. I want to go to a school that really wants me to come and play for them and not just pick me up."
The Huskers have been one of the teams that have offered to show a lot of interest in Martin. Martin has taken the time to look at Nebraska online and is planning on getting a closer look at them this fall.
"They are a pretty nice team. I have been looking at them on the internet. They had a coach that left and that came back to be their head coach. They are going to do good this year.
"Yeah, I will take an official visit to Nebraska. I haven't set up any visits yet to anyone, but Nebraska is one of the visits that I will take this year."
