"I committed tonight," Qvale said. "I was close to committing for a long time, you could tell after you spoke to me earlier this week.
"I felt ready to do this. I kind of wanted to take the official for the home-opener, but everything is kind of crammed with my season.
"I talked it over with some people, I felt comfortable with my decision and I made the call to my recruiting coach, Barney Cotton, tonight."
The official visit was set for August 30th to see Nebraska open up their season against Western Michigan. However, along with Nebraska starting their season comes the start of Williston's season and Qvale will be a little busy to trip that weekend.
"I am not going to be able to make my official visit for Western Michigan on August 30th. But, I think that we are headed up for Kansas on November 8th."
Head Coach Todd Matthews calls Brent Qvale a ‘once in a lifetime player' and also mentioned that he was impressed with Nebraska and how they recruited Qvale. Brent came away from the process with the same impression of Nebraska.
"Nebraska didn't go too crazy with me. They kept in good contact and kept after me. Coach Cotton came up to my state track meet, had never seen me play, and made that trip to see me. That was great to see that they were that interested."
Qvale made it in this summer for camp and received an offer shortly after. While Qvale was in Lincoln there was a good chance to see about the assets that would be at his disposal if he chose Nebraska. He almost did.
"When I first saw it, saw everything that it had to offer and talked to all of the coaches; I just about committed in June. I wanted to take a trip or two to see some other schools. It was at the top though from what I saw."
