"It's kind of good," Johnson said. "My class is ready. There is a lot expected of us as a class and we are ready to take this to a state championship.
"We feel pretty good about our chances with state this year. We are really only replacing a couple of linebackers and offensive lineman. Our line is looking good though."
Johnson says that sometimes speedy defensive ends can get lumped into a category that they can't stop the run. That isn't fair for him though and he says that he's willing to do both.
"I think that I have real good field awareness and my pass rushing ability. I can also stop the run. Just because I am a speedy guy, I am not afraid to get in with the big guys.
"I think that those are my best attributes. It doesn't matter, if you are in front of me, I have to beat you. I have to do what I have to do to win in any situation."
When the offer total nears 20 it's OK that you don't remember exactly how many you have or who they all are. Johnson says that he has narrowed things considerably though.
"I don't have more of an interest to stay closer to home, but I have formed my best connection with those schools through the process."
The Huskers had been mentioned by Johnson in previous updates, but are now off of his list. This just recently happened. "Nebraska was on my list, but, I sat down and reevaluated my options and came up with that new top five."
