Arizona State had a big group of recruits in this weekend for their game versus Georgia, none of which may have been bigger than five-star defensive tackle Corey Adams from nearby Scottsdale Saguaro High.
Adams and teammate Kody Koebensky were hosted by former Saguaro teammate and current ASU safety Max Tabach. Having been on campus several times, Corey says that there wasn't a whole lot that he hadn't seen before but he called the visit more "in-depth".
He tells us, "They took us to some off campus condos which were extremely nice and we talked to a lot of academic support people and people assocaited with the football team, like trainers and counselors."
Adams (6-3 285) is planning on majoring in an area of business and was able to get some good knowledge of the business college. He comments, "They took us to the hotel where the team and coaches were staying and they took us into a room with the heads of several departments and got a lot of different facts and info. They had a lot of good stuff to say."
As far as the game, Adams says, "In pregame you get to see how the players are into it and how dedicated the coaches are. It is a good thing to see. Coach Stretz, the d-line coach, doesn't get to see is family much so you know how dedicated they are."
With Adams being such a highly regarded recruit, one might think that the ASU staff would put the pressure on him to commit but Adams says this is not the case. He says, "They are laid back and actually encourage me to look at other schools to make sure what I am doing is for me. I really respect that."
Adams says that his choices are still down to ASU, Ohio State and USC, despite rumors that USC had stopped recruiting him. "I will be visiting USC in the second week of December and I am still setting things uo with Ohio State," he says.
The game between ASU and Georgia will have no impact on Adams' recruiting. He says that although he expected the game to be closer he will not use this as a decding factor. "I could have done the same thing with the Ohio State and USC game but there is more onto picking a college than that," he says.
As far as a time frame for his commitment, "I am waiting after all of my visits are taken and I will be announcing in the Under Armour game."
