"The season is going good," Carpenter said. "We are undefeated. We are expecting to win CIF and hopefully make it to the state championship. We made it to the semi-finals last year and lost to Oaks Christian."
Carpenter is a big part of success that Junipero Serra is enjoying this year, but he isn't sure what his stats are. He is playing safety which is a little different than where he is projected to play in college.
"I don't know what my stats are. I am playing safety this year, but I am being recruited to play cornerback more in high school. They just put me there. I like playing it.
"I like it because I get to hit a few more people. It doesn't matter who I get a chance to hit. If it's a running back or a wide receiver; if you have the ball I am going to hit you. I'll hit anyone."
The last time that Big Red Report caught up with Carpenter was following his official visit to Lincoln. At that time, there was only one visit that he was going to make. Now, there's more.
"I will probably take those tree trips. I know that the Arizona visit is on November 22, but I haven't set up the visit to Fresno State yet."
These trips are necessary for Carpenter to make an educated decision. He would like to see the same things that he looked at Nebraska to compare all of them.
"I don't have a leader. I am completely open. I want to go on these last few visits and see the fans, the players and the coaches to compare to the Nebraska trip."
At the end of the season will more than likely be the end of the process for Carpenter. He would like to get everything, football related, out of the way.
"I would like to commit sometime around the end of the season. I would like to get all of the football out of the way at once and nothing to cloud my judgment."
The Missouri game weekend visitors for Nebraska were a very tight group. They exchanged numbers before they all left and were going to stay in touch. Carpenter heard from one of his fellow visitors this past week.
"I went the same weekend that Chris Williams did and he told me on Thursday that he was committing. I am glad for him. He has tried to talk me into following him."
