West coast safety talks recruiting

The Huskers hosted several top prospects over a five game stretch of home games to start the season. California standout Dijon Washington from Lawndale (Cali.) Leuzinger high school was one of those players. Big Red Report caught up with Dijon to get the latest on his recruitment and to see what his future plans might be.

Dijon Washington says he had a great time when he visited Nebraska, but once he got back home it was back to business for the talented defensive back.

"Yeah, I had an awesome time on my official to Nebraska, it was tight," said Washington. "It was fun at the game and I liked getting to meet the coaches face to face. "But now I have to concentrate on my high school team. This is my last year, and we want to go out on top. I sprained my ankle a few games back so I'm about 85% right now, luckily it's not a high ankle sprain though. I'm just going to tape it up, I don't want to sit out any games."

While Dijon said he enjoyed his visit to Nebraska, he still thinks he needs something to compare it to.

"I haven't set up any other visits yet. Right now I'm just trying to get the season over with before I concentrate on recruiting. I'll probably take a couple more after the season is over. I think I need to see more than one school before I decide.

"I'll probably take one to Oregon State, I'm not sure about any others. But I would like to wait until my season is over, including playoffs, before I take any other visits."

With a lot riding on his high school squads last few games, Dijon says his focus needs to be with them at this time.

"Our next opponent is 0-5 I think, but we can't look past them. We are about to go into league play, we have some tough games coming up, and I want us to win all those games and finish the year right."
