Giles checking out his options

Star running back Jarvis Giles committed to Tennessee back in June, but with all the unrest surrounding the Volunteer program the talented back is now testing the waters. Can the Huskers find their way into the picture?

With the imminent firing of head coach Phil Fulmer at Tennessee, a few prospects from the Volunteer commit list are reopening their recruitment. One of those players is Jarvis Giles from Gaither high school in Tampa, Florida. He went in detail with Big Red Report about his situation.

"I heard about coach Fulmer the same day everybody else did," said Giles. "It was all over ESPN, and my coach didn't find about it until about ten minutes before that. It was crazy when he told me, I was like wow!

"He came and got me out of class and told me, I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. Next thing I know my voicemail is full, and I was like here we go."

So what now?

"It's time to go to plan B, I have four more official visits left I can take, and I guess I'll go ahead and take those and see what's up."

Jarvis then spoke about what schools he had in mind when considering other visits to take.

"Truthfully, I already have one planned for this weekend to South Carolina. Me and coach Reaves have been talking and I'm cool with him. I've been talking to the coach from Ole Miss too, I can't remember how to pronounce his name, but he is cool too. Illinois also wants me to come up and visit, so I'll have to see about that one also.

"Nebraska is in there too, I just talked to coach Beck the other day. I need to get back up with him so I can set up my visit. I like coach Beck, he is straight up with you."

Looking at his top schools, one could infer Jarvis doesn't mind leaving his home state of Florida for college.

"Yeah, there really isn't anything here for me. I'm ready to get out there and experience something new. I'm a Florida boy, but I want to see what else is out there."

So do you see yourself pulling the trigger this weekend on the visit to South Carolina, or will you wait it out?

"I'm taking all my officials. I'll have three more left after that one so I plan on taking them and see what's out there. I need to get out there and compare and contrast these visits. I'm graduating December 19th, so I need to decide before then."

Jarvis was then asked pointblank if Nebraska was a viable option for the elusive running back.

"Oh yeah man, me and coach Beck get along great. When he talks to me he talks straight up, and I respect that. I like coach Beck a lot, matter of fact I need to call him back. I know my coach talks to him all the time. I know they want me bad."

Stay tuned to Big Red Report, as we bring you the information on his recruitment as it unfolds.
