The 95 rushing yards were a career-high for Ganz and the most by a Nebraska quarterback since Jammal Lord's 109-yard effort against Texas A&M in 2003. Ganz was one of five Huskers to rush for at least 45 yards in Saturday's game as NU churned out its best rushing effort against a Big 12 foe in six seasons.
Ganz guided the Nebraska offense to a season-high 610 total yards against the Wildcats and NU's 56 points were also the most this season. Under Ganz's leadership, Nebraska has now topped 30 points nine times in 11 games this season and 12 times in his 14 career starts. Nebraska has passed for at least 200 yards in all 14 of Ganz's career starts and he has out-yarded the opposing quarterback in nine of 10 career Big 12 starts.
The 365-yard total offense effort against Kansas State pushed Ganz's season total offense total to an NU record 3,351 yards. He also established a new Nebraska season completions record against the Wildcats. Ganz is also on the verge of setting the season passing yardage and completion percentage record and is in position to break Nebraska records for season and career touchdown passes.
Ganz's award marks the fourth time this season a Husker has won Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honors. Ndamukong Suh received the defensive honor for his effort against Kansas, while Niles Paul (San Jose State) and Nate Swift (Virginia Tech) have earned special teams honors.
