Local "star" looks to the future

Another In-state star from the Husker state, Xavier Omon takes his impressive regular and post-season success into the battle of recruiting. Vying for the attention of NU wasn't hard, but he's got it from other schools as well. Check out this update as we talk recruiting with this Beatrice back.

Xavier Oman Beatrice, NE (6'11-195-4.6/40 Electronic-4.4/40 handheld) Being in the state of Nebraska and have not yet committed or talked about walking on is a big thing. But, when you break school records it's even more amazing. This is Xavier Omon's story at the moment. Having no offers, but officials being set up, one is soon to come.

Having just returned from his visit this past weekend taking an official to Nebraska, Xavier feels very confident an offer will be soon coming from the Cornhuskers "They told me what was going on. I just look at it like their going after their 4 or 5 star blue chippers right now. Of course they're not going to get everyone they want, so I should be getting an offer sometime after that." But, just because they offer does not mean he will accept it "Right now I don't have a favorite. I'm looking at Nebraska, Iowa, and Iowa State"

What is this? An in-state kid not looking at Nebraska? Well, he's not truly an in-state kid, actually "I was born in San Diego and lived in Lawrence, Kansas until the 9th grade. I've only been in Nebraska for 3-4 years now. So I wouldn't consider myself like the rest of the in-state kids. It's not that I dislike Nebraska because that's not the case. It's just I'm not like the rest of the kids around here when it comes to Nebraska football."

While not being a native to Nebraska, he sure plays like he is. Crushing both the single season rushing record at Beatrice High School, and the total career rushing record. "I don't know my exact stats at the moment, but for the season I had around 1300 rushing yards, which broke my record from last year. I also had 2800 for my high school career."

His senior campaign didn't end like he wanted it too, losing is 3 over times in the first round of the plays offs, but know he can concentrate on what is ahead of him. "Nebraska, Iowa, and Iowa State are the people calling me right now. I've already gone to Nebraska. Iowa and Iowa State will get visits, just haven't set up dates for them."

Nebraska is looking at Xavier for a possible wingback or defensive back position. Both ISU and Iowa are looking at Xavier for running back, primarily. If given the choice Xavier prefers running back "It's what I've played all my life. It's where I would prefer to play in college. I'm not going to rule out a school because they want me to play somewhere else."

Xavier has scored an 18 on the ACT and isn't 100% what his core GPA is at the moment.
