I'm going to go out on a limb here, and predict this is finally the week Brandon Kinnie pulls the trigger for the Big Red. He and his mother will be coming in for the CU game on an unofficial visit. When I spoke to him this weekend, he seemed like he was ready to end his recruitment. Here are a few of his quotes.
"I'm coming for an unofficial this weekend with my mom, I want her to see Lincoln. We just talked about it this morning, she is excited to see the school too. To be honest Kevin, thats all I've been waiting on to secure the deal with Nebraska. She just wants me to be happy, but I still want her to see the place before I commit."
In BK's latest update, from the Arkansas site, it sounded like Arkansas was a legit threat to the Huskers. But Kinnie told me that wasn't true.
"Arkansas just called me up last night and wanted me to set up an official to their game this weekend against LSU. But I told them I couldn't make it because I'm headed to Lincoln. So they said I could just wait and set one up in January. I've been down there on an unofficial, and when it comes to them and Nebraska, they don't really stack up. I don't really need to go back down there."
So is this the weekend?
"Yeah, once my mom sees everything and likes it, I'll just make my decision then. Nebraska has been with me since the jump and been the most genuine with me, and I like everything about them."
On another note, Jeremiah Sirles said he has plans on making a return trip to Lincoln on an unofficial for the CU game, and he won't be alone.
"If the weather holds up I'm coming back up for the CU game. I think we will be able to make it. I'm bringing three of my teammates with me, three other O-linemen that I play with."
Are they D-1 type guys?
"Two of them for sure (both juniors), they are already being recruited by Nebraska."
He made it clear what he hopes to see Friday too.
"Man I can't wait, I hope they beat the you know what out of them. Something like 52-21 would be nice, that would make my day. Their front four is terrible, we should be able to run it all over them."
UPDATE 9:30 pm
Just got off the phone with Jarvis Giles. He talked about what happened in his last playoff game, and the recent news that South Carolina was his leader.
"I already had a bad ankle coming into that playoff game against Chamberlain. Those guys kept diving at my feet and finally got me. They took shots at it the whole time. I tried to tape it up, but once that thing swelled up, my trainer said thats it for you."
Jarvis also talked about his upcoming visit to NU.
"I need to call coach Beck tonight, I'm going to call him as soon as I get off the phone with you. They set my flight up to leave on Thursday night, the day before the game. I probably wont even come home until Sunday maybe Monday. They want me up there all weekend, thats fine with me.
"I have a lot of family coming for Thanksgiving, but they told me to go do what I need to do. This is about my future. I can hang out with them on Thursday and eat turkey, but then I'm headed out to see Nebraska that night."
What about his recent update that stated South Carolina was his leader.
"Yeah, I heard about that. But he asked me who was my leader between South Carolina and Tennessee, and I said South Carolina. I told him I didn't know about Nebraska yet, I haven't been there. After the visit to Nebraska I'll know whats up."
He then spoke about his timeframe for a decision.
"I'm going to get back on that plane and come home and talk about it with my family. We will just sit there and compare and contrast the schools. If Nebraska comes out on top and I feel in my heart thats where I need to be, thats where I'll commit."
