There haven't been many more talked about recruits this year for Husker fans than Rex Burkhead. Burkhead, an explosive running back from Plano (Texas), has rare strength and speed which have drawn comparisons to Sam McGuffie last year. After an official visit last weekend to Texas A&M, and one to Nebraska in September, he pulled the trigger tonight on a commitment.
The people of the recruiting world have been waiting for the commitment to come with Rex Burkhead

said last week that Rex's father, Rick, said things were narrowing. Tonight, though, it narrowed to one.
"Sorry, this is all I can give you right now," Rick Burkhead said in a text message. "We are meeting with Coach John Papuchis right now from Nebraska and Rex wants to enjoy tonight. Rex is a Husker!".
Burkhead took his official visit to Nebraska back in September and just returned from one at Texas A&M last weekend. He was also being recruited by Ole Miss, Arkansas, Stanford, Texas Tech and Michigan.
Burkhead is the second commitment from the state of Texas to Nebraska in as many days. Andrew Green, also from Texas, committed on Sunday following an official visit to Missouri.
