Last weekend, Wil Richards from Lee' Summit (Mo.) West, took an official visit to Nebraska. On Tuesday, he made a phone call to Nebraska.
"I did and I committed on Tuesday," Richards said. "I did it Tuesday at school. They weren't here on Tuesday, but I called them and told them I was walking on."
The chance to play at Nebraska was just too much. In fact, after thinking about it, he cancelled his upcoming official visit and said he knew what he wanted to do.
"The opportunity in itself is spectacular. The coaching staff and the people that are there almost made my decision easy for me.
"After I got back, I thought about it on Monday, and I told my dad that Lincoln was where I wanted go and spend the next four to five years of my life.
"I didn't need to take the trip to Air Force this weekend anymore. I know what I want. He said it was my decision and it was up to me."
Richards will get a chance to line up alongside a long-time friend and former high school team mate in Lincoln. He knows from this past season that he get a chance to prove himself.
"With Matt Holt, he's a very good friend of mine for a very long time, when I told him that I committed he said it was awesome and we talked about it.
"When I went up there I literally came away with no negatives about going there. It's all about getting that chance. That is what Bo promises.
"He said that even the scholarship players aren't promised a starting spot. They are just promised a chance. I need that chance."
All of the walk-ons will sign a Gentlemen's Agreement on LOI day. "I will sign at 2:00. I think that we are signing about that time."
