Corey Mckeon –Naperville, IL (Naperville North) LB-6'2"-210-4.5/40) Being one of the top linebackers prospects in the state of Illinois, Corey no longer needs to bother with wondering where he'll be playing the next four/five years.
"I committed last Thursday, I didn't want everyone to know about it then. I felt like I needed to call the coaches from the other schools who were recruiting me and let them know about my decision." He went on to add "The coaches were real understanding, they think I made a good choice. They didn't seem resentful at all."
So why Nebraska? The last time I talked to Corey, Purdue was right up there with the Cornhuskers "The more I thought about it, the more clear it became. When you think of Nebraska you think football. The coaches, their tradition, everything there is what helped me make up my mind. I just think I can be a better football player if I go to Nebraska rather than if I go somewhere else."
We spoke a little bit about the new DC coming into Nebraska, he said that had no bearing on his decision "I know he coached in the NFL, and he's going most likely be my position coach, I am looking forward to it, but when I decided to commit I didn't know who was going to be hired. I still don't know for certain, but if it isn't him, than I'm going to be shocked."
Mckeon chose Nebraska over Purdue, South Carolina, Miami (OH).
