Texas WR hearing from NU

Nebraska is still looking to get a receiver that can really stretch the field as well as be a problem in space. Chris Hawkins from Channelview (Texas) might be that guy. The Huskers haven't offered Hawkins yet, but they have shown a lot of interest to go along with most of the top teams in the Big 12 showing interest and his two offers. Can Nebraska get Hawkins?

Chris Hawkins is a 6-foot-2 and 175-pound receiver from Channelview (Texas) with 4.4/40 speed. Hawkins stars on the track as well as on the football field.

"I am running track right now," Hawkins said. "I am running the 4x200m this year. I run the anchor for that relay team."

Hawkins was planning his first trip of the spring this weekend to see a nearby school. Beyond that, he hasn't made any other plans for any other trips for the spring, but would like to make some this summer.

"I am going to Houston this weekend. It's a junior day. I don't have any spring game plans. I am going to try and hit some camps this summer."

There is already a pair of offers in hand for Hawkins. He is also picking up interest from some of the top teams in the Big 12.

"I have Houston and Kentucky offers already. I am getting a lot of interest from Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma."

Hawkins is a versatile receiver that can make plays with the ball in his hands. He averaged over 30 yards per catch last year and almost 50% of the time he touched the ball resulted in a score.

"I have good speed. I can play the inside and outside receiver positions. I had 11 receptions for over 400 yards and five touchdowns last year. I was second team all-district."

The recruiting process is just picking up for Hawkins and he hasn't given much thought to his favorites. He is also still trying to determine what he is looking for in a school.

"I haven't really thought about what I am looking for when it comes to picking out a school. I have thought about it and I would like to stay a little closer to home."
