Top LB has dreams of another position

Go figure. He's one of the best linebackers in the country, touted and gloated about by almost everyone. Recruited from coast to coast and figured to be an instant playmaker when he gets to college. Again, that's at linebacker. But, what if he doesn't want to be a linebacker? What if he wants to be a quarterback? Well, Earl talked about that goal and where he might be going if that goal is seen to the end.

Earl Everett LB-6'3-210-4.6/40-305/Bench-Bushnell, FL (South Sumter HS) Well, the talk of the town has been where does Nebraska sit with Earl Everett, so I went straight to the horses mouth "Right now Nebraska, Florida, and Miami are all even." So there it is.

But wait, there's a catch.

Earl hasn't visited Miami or Florida, yet. So does getting the only visit so far give Nebraska an unfair advantage? "No, I don't think so. I know what Florida and Miami have to offer, I know what to expect on my visits there. Nebraska was different, I didn't know much about them before my visit. I mean, I know about their team and tradition, but you get to see much more than that when you visit a place you have no idea about." But, both Florida and Miami are known for impressing recruits on their visits, this will just have to be a wait and see scenario.

Along with Florida and Miami, both LSU and Florida State will get visits also. But these other two schools are a distant fourth and fifth. Right now it's a three horse race and everyone else is running to catch up.

The process now gets even murkier. Earl, like Tommy Z, is a two way star playing linebacker and QB. Only Nebraska is offering Earl as a QB. I asked him which he prefers "I prefer playing quarterback. It means a lot to me. I'm starting to grow into that position. I think it's something I can play at the next level." But Earl will not base his decision solely on that factor "I'm looking at everything. It just can't be one thing. When I get done with my visits I think I'll know what's best for me."

When I asked Earl about the vacant OC job at Nebraska Earl didn't really seem to care one way or another "I know Nebraska will get someone good. When I took my visit there a lot of the players were saying Coach Gill was going to get the position. If he did that would be fine with me."
