"I got an offer from Ohio last Tuesday, I think," Hinz said. "I was pretty speechless about it. I was really excited about getting the offer."
Hinz said that there are a couple of things that he immediately felt following the offer to Ohio. All in all, he was just ecstatic to get that offer.
"I would say it's both relief to know that my college will be paid for and also excited to get that opportunity to go on and play division one football. It's an amazing feeling."
There has been good communication between Hinz and Ohio, but not with the coach that so many Nebraska fans think of at Ohio. However, the one that Hinz is talking to does have Nebraska ties.
"I have not had a chance to talk to Head Coach Frank Solich from Ohio, but I have been in touch with Coach Burrow who played at Nebraska and was a GA as well."
The offer from Ohio is to play on the offensive side of the ball. Defense is really where Hinz would play at the next level, but he isn't going to get caught up on who recruits him to play where.
"Ohio likes me on offense, I am pretty sure. I think that Nebraska likes me on offense as well. It doesn't make too much of a difference of me where I play.
"Division one football is division one football. I guess that I was preparing myself as a defensive lineman for the next level, but I am happy about playing offense too."
Hinz would like to get out to Ohio later this year, but realizes that it's a pretty long trip out there. He has some camp plans set up including the first session down in Lincoln.
"I might take a trip out to Ohio this summer. It's a long drive out there, but I would like to see it. I am going to Nebraska's first session, North Dakota State and I was going to head for Kansas State for one day."
