"I am back in Omaha," Bonnell said. "I had by visit in Lincoln this morning with the coaches and my brother is about to start playing in his baseball tournament right now."
The first of two trips to Lincoln, from Omaha, was on Thursday. This morning, he met with the staff and did more of an unofficial trip with the Nebraska staff.
"I was there on Thursday and then there again this morning. We had an early meeting with the coaches this morning and then an unofficial visit afterward.
"The trip on Thursday was really for me, to walk around and familiarize myself with things on campus. I really thought the campus was close together and centralized."
This morning though, was about getting to meet some people who Bonnell had not had a chance to meet yet. After getting that chance, he believes what they had to say about the direction of the program.
"I met with all of the offensive coaches including Coach Bo Pelini. We met and talked about how Nebraska is up and coming and how they are re-building their program to bring it back to when it was at the top. And I think they will be able to bring it right back to the top.
Today was the first time that I met with Coach Bo Pelini face to face and some of the other staff. He is very much a players' coach and connects with his players in a way that make them feel very comfortable."
After three trips to Nebraska, Bonnell has a pretty solid idea about what Nebraska brings to the table for him. He likes the facilities and the staff there in Lincoln.
"Nebraska has fantastic facilities and their coaching staff is highly knowledgeable and they relate well to you as a player. You feel with them that they are going to be right back at the top just like they used to be."
Next week, Bonnell will be on his way west to take a couple of more unofficial visits next week. After that, there aren't any other set plans for Bonnell and he will be in more of a holding pattern.
"I am still planning on committing sometime in either August, September or early in my season. Next week I am going to take a trip out to California and Stanford. After that, we will just take it as it comes and go from there."
