DL pair visiting Nebraska

There are visitors that will be expected in Nebraska at the end of July and among them will be a pair of team mates from Texas. This pair isn't just team mates; they are players along the same line holding offers from many of the same schools. They are both heading up to Nebraska for the Junior Day at the end of the month.

Diamonte Wheeler is a highly recruited defensive tackle from Arlington (Texas) Bowie. Wheeler and his team mate, and fellow defensive lineman, Donovan Vestal, are getting ready for an unofficial visit.

"We are going up for Nebraska on July 31," Wheeler said. "Donovan Vestal and I are headed up there together. We are looking forward to it."

Wheeler wants to get a better idea what Nebraska is all about, particularly getting to know the coaching staff personally. He also wants to get a look around at what the coaches have told him all about.

"I really want to get to know their coaches better. I am looking forward to seeing the facilities that I hear so much about, the academic support, the town and campus."

The offer to Wheeler is significant to him. It was one of the first and since the offer the Nebraska staff has stayed in touch with him. More than that, he knows the potential of being a DT at Nebraska.

"Nebraska was second to offer me. It was way before the spring when they offered me. I have really developed a good relationship with Coach Tim Beck and John Papuchis.

"They have been telling me about the defensive tackle that they have that is going to get drafted. They say that I have the body frame that I can participate early."
