"Actually no," Hampton said. "I am not going to be able to attend anymore. My parents are not able to take off work for us to travel up there this weekend."
The Huskers haven't dropped on Hampton's list, not at all. Actually, this cancellation might be adding some fuel to the fire to want to get up to Lincoln to take a look around.
"Nebraska is still up there at the top of my list. I really wanted to make that trip, but I am going to have to wait for an official visit to get up there."
Hampton is still committed to Stanford, but has opened things up after some late offers have come in. Hampton would still like to finalize his decision before the end of his senior year.
"I don't want to wait on my visits. More than likely, I am going to be taking my visits very early on in the season so I can get my decision done before the end of the season."
Hampton has some things that he would like to look at when he takes these additional trips. He has some basis for comparison after having visited Stanford and then committing.
"I am going to be looking at the facilities, coaching staff and the campus area. Those are really the things that when I take these trips that I will be looking at."
There are a lot of things that Hampton is hearing about Nebraska from his coach. He also knows some things about the head coach and wants to finally meet and talk to his position coach.
"My coach actually went up to Nebraska because he's friends with one of the coaches up there. He said that the facilities are nice and I want to see them.
"I want to meet the coaching staff. I know that Bo Pelini is a great coach and I would really like to meet him. Also, I want to meet my position coach. I am never really spoken to him."
The head coach at Nebraska has been exchanging emails with Hampton a lot recently. Through that communication, Hampton and Pelini have built up the player-coach relationship.
"Coach Bo Pelini has been sending me emails on and off. He's the coach that I have been talking to the most. I am trying to get a hold of my recruiting coach now."
"I respect Coach Bo Pelini and Nebraska a whole lot and I really looking forward to taking a trip up there. It just won't be this weekend."
