NU Volleyball Ranked Third

The Nebraska volleyball team was ranked third in Volleyball Magazine's preseason poll released Wednesday.

The Huskers return five starters, including All-Americans Tara Mueller and Sydney Anderson, from a team that went 31-3 and reached the NCAA semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons.

Volleyball Magazine was the only publication that listed the Huskers in the preseason top five a year ago heading into the season, as Nebraska finished third in the country. Nebraska is one of three Big 12 teams ranked in the preseason top 20, joining second-ranked Texas and No. 11 Iowa State. The Huskers will face five other teams rated in the top 20 in the preseason poll. The Huskers will face four squads ranked in the top 11 teams during the season, including No. 2 Texas, No. 8 Minnesota, No. 10 UCLA and No. 11 Iowa State.

The Huskers open practice on Monday, Aug. 10, and will host the annual media day at the NU Coliseum on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m.
