New Husker Commit!

With the recruiting season near to an end, commits are a premium and official visits are where some of them happen. Well, for Nebraska, they got their first from this round of official visits as a new player calls himself a Husker.

Lance Broadus - (Woodland Hill, CA (Taft HS))-(LB-6'1-220-4.45/40) Another top recruit no longer will wait until signing day to name the college where he will spend the next 4-5 years of his life. Broadus committed to the Huskers this past weekend while taking an official in Lincoln.

"The trip was tremendous, I can't say enough about the school or the coaches or the players. I felt right at home. I got to see snow for the first time. I made a little snowball, it was a blast." Nebraska is slowly putting together an excellent class and is beginning to plug hole on the defensive side of the ball.

I spoke with his mother and brother as well, Mom does seem kind of hesitant in letting her son go so far away from home and I asked Lance about this "Oh no doubt, I'm a momma's boy. But, she understands I need to get out and be on my own. Coach Solich is coming out tomorrow to talk to her about my grades and to reassure her that everything will be ok. I know they're going to talk about grades as well, I know Nebraska can take one partial qualifier, Solich said he'd talk to my mom about that, too." Lance has yet to pass the SAT and will be taking it this upcoming weekend.

What also appeal to Lance was the coaches he met while visiting "It's a whole new staff, everyone is starting from scratch. I have a chance come in a play early I feel. I know nothing is promised, but I feel I can contribute." Being on of the top linebackers in the nation it would be hard to argue otherwise. Nebraska is looking at Lance to be a middle linebacker, although he would not rule out perhaps playing some outside linebacker with his tremendous speed.

Lance had 2 hosts this weekend, which was slightly unusual "Demarrio (Williams) was my host, but he just had his knee scoped, so Benard Thomas was helping him out. Benard is from California so we made a good connection."
