Huskers finish first practice of game week

Nebraska hit the field today for the first practice of game-week as they prepare for Florida Atlantic. Here are the notes from today's practice along with post-practice audio with the Head Coach.

Practice Notes:

Junior left guard Keith Williams sat out today's practice, but Head Coach Bo Pelini said that he was "fine" and expected Williams back as early as tomorrow.

Special Teams Coach John Papuchis said that the groups are starting to work themselves out for kickoff and punt return, and these are the groups which he said are most likely to see time:

Punt Return

Jr. – Niles Paul
Fr. – Rex Burkhead
RsFr. – Tim Marlowe

Kickoff Return

Jr. – Niles Paul/So. – Alfonzo Dennard
Fr. – Rex Burkhead/So. Curenski Gilleylen
Fr. – Antonio Bell

Papuchis said that the role of Jr. Alex Henery doing both field goal kicking along with punting hasn't been officially determined yet, as he still views the competition wide open between Henery and redshirt freshman Brett Maher.

The competition is also still on-going between long snappers P.J. Mangiere (Fr) and Sam Meginnis (RsFr.), according to Papuchis.

The Scout Team is obviously going now, and the quarterback simulating FAU standout QB Rusty Smith is freshman Ron Kellogg Jr.
